World War. |

Pattern 1822 Heavy Cavalry Sword and Scabbard.
The hilt has a brass triple bar guard, numbered 1023 and the grip is
brass wire bound over leather. A broad brown leather sword knot is
attached to the guard. The curved blade is engraved on the back edge in
italic script Mce d'Armes de Chatllt_Fevrier 1878 = Cavllre Cre Mle
1822. It has a a single edge with a single fuller on each side to 16 mm
of the double edge point and has a thin fuller to each side for 54 mm in
the centre near the back edge. A brown leather washer is attached to the
blade where it meets the guard. The polished steel scabbard has a single
loose ring 80 mm from the throat, numbered 1023 and a drag shoe at the
chape. The scabbard is contained in a canvas and leather cover with four
eyelets at the mouth to secure it above the hanger strap. |

Third Reich Army dress sword and scabbard.
The hilt is a chrome plated single bar stirrup type with langets over
the ricasso and backstrap with ears pinned to the black plastic wire
bound grip. The chrome plated blade has a single edge to a spear point
with a single fuller to each side. The ricasso is marked with the trade
mark of Paul Weyersberg & Co of a sword within a wreath. The black
painted steel scabbard has a single loose ring on a band with a fixed
square ring 70 mm from the throat. A black leather belt hanger strap is
attached to the scabbard ring. |

identical to the NCO's dress sword but is a lighter construction and has
a blued scabbard. |

Third Reich Army Officer's dress sword and scabbard.
The hilt is a chrome plated single bar stirrup type with langets over
the ricasso and backstrap with ears pinned to the black plastic wire
bound grip. The chrome plated blade has a single edge to a spear point
with a single fuller to each side. The ricasso is marked with a set of
scales and AC. The blued steel scabbard is stamped CE/G on the back and
16806 on the front near the throat. It has a single loose ring on a band
with a fixed square ring at the back 70 mm from the throat. |

| Japanese
Trooper's sword and scabbard. The
hilt has a small sheet steel D shape guard with a checkered steel back
strap and plain pommel. The guard is stamped with the triple interlocked
rings symbol of the Koishikawa arsenal. The grips are checkered wood and
a single screw bolt though the centre secures the hilt to the blade. A
spring catch on the inside fits into a slot on the throat of the
scabbard. A broken brown leather sword knot is attached to the guard.
The slightly curved blade has a single fuller on each side to within 40
mm of the single edged point and is stamped 128284 on the left ricasso.
The blackened steel scabbard has a single loose hanger ring on a band 85
mm down from the throat which is held to the body by a single screw at
the front. |

Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer sword and scabbard.
The hilt has a nickel plated three quarter 'scroll' pattern pierced
sheet steel guard with the GVR royal cypher and has a leather sword knot
attached to the slot near the pommel. The inner guard front is stamped
198 Q. The grip is wire bound black fishskin. The straight blade is
etched half way on both sides with a foliage design having the royal
coat of arms on the centre right and the royal cypher of George V on the
centre left. There is a single fuller on each side for half of the
length. The ricasso is etched with the interlocking triangle symbol with
the royal coat of arms over By Warrant in a scroll banner on the right
and the Prince of Wales three feathers over a scroll with By Appointment
and HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON on the left. A brown leather washer
is attached to the blade where it meets the hilt and the back edge has
an arrow within a D. The light brown leather scabbard, stamped 3 over
871, has a nickel plated throat and a 'Sam Browne' frog strap on a
leather band. |

Netherlands East Indies
Klewang Native Police Sword |
| This
type of sword was originally issued to the Netherlands East Indies
Native Police although many were captured by the Japanese and used as a
machete. This example has been sharpened and was captured at Balikpapan.
The hilt has a sheet steel half basket guard with three cutouts and a
wrist strap slot which attaches to the pommel with a slotted head bolt.
The plain wooden grips are attached to the tang with three rivets. The
curved single edged blade has a single fuller on each side to within 210
mm of the clipped back point. The right ricasso is stamped with a crown
over B. |

German Pattern 1934 Air
Force Officer Dress Sword and Scabbard |

Pattern 1934 Air Force Officer's sword and scabbard. The hilt has a
silver plate cross guard in the design of wings with a brass rounded
swastika within a circle in the centre. The grip is blue leather (worn)
bound with brass wire and the silver plated disc pommel has the brass
rounded swastika. The double edged nickel plated blade is plain with a
central single 250 mm fuller to both sides down from the guard. The
ricasso is engraved with the Paul Weyersberg trade mark of a sword in a
wreath and stamped 129. The blue leather scabbard has a nickel plated
chape and locket with a blue leather belt hanger attached to two loose
rings on the sides. |

Naval Officer's Dress Sword and Scabbard. The
solid brass half basket guard has an Italian crown over a fouled anchor
as a cartouche badge and a fold down clip to attach to the scabbard on
the back edge. The brass back strap pommel is a lions head and mane and
the grip is white fishskin bound with brass wire. The straight blade is
etched for half the length with a floral pattern incorpoating trophies
of arms, the Italian eagle on the right and the Italian coat of arms on
the left. The forward section on the right side of the blade is hand
engraved "SAN GIORGIO" TOBRUCH JAN 1941. The black leather
scabbard is mounted with an embossed brass chape, locket and centre
strap hanger band. The chape has an anchor in an oval on the front. |

Royal Australian Navy Sword
and Scabbard : Master at Arms R. Triggs, HMAS Sydney |
| Royal
Australian Navy Master at Arms sword and scabbard. The hilt has the
regulation solid half basket gilt brass guard with a folding lock back
flap and a plain backstrap and pommel. The grips are black fishskin with
a loose brass wire binding.The straight blade is etched on both sides in
a floral design with a fouled anchor and royal cypher (GVR) in the
centre. The ricasso has the retailer address - J Friedeberg, 81 Queen
Street, Portsea and on the back edge is the Wilkinson serial number
5211. The scabbard is black leather with 3 scroll pattern gilt/brass
fittings. |

Australia and abroad from 1920 to 1946. |

Pattern 1892 Infantry Officer's sword and scabbard.
The hilt has a nickel plated half basket 'gothic' style guard having a
VR cartouche badge and a plain back strap with a wire bound fishskin
grip. The straight blade has a single fuller to each side to within ten
inches of the spear point. It is etched with a foliage design for half
the length on both sides with a crown over the royal VR cypher. The
ricasso has a brass disc stamped APPROVED on the right side within the
interlocking triangle symbol and on the left is the Prince of Wales
feathers over BY APPOINTMENT and the makers name of HENRY WILKINSON PALL
MALL LONDON. The back edge is stamped 29533. |

Japanese Army Officer's

| This
is a good quality sword that was possibly worn by a senior Japanese Army
Officer. The mon described in the catalogue description are stars and
was used by the Cho family clan. Japanese Army officer's sword. Shin-gunto
mountings with a good quality pierced guard (tsuba). The military cherry
blossom menuki on each side of the handle under the binding has a family
crest (mon) of eight discs surrounding a centre disc in silver mounted
on the centre section. The habaki on the blade is silver plated with
diagonal scratch marks. The blade has a dull finish with a good harmon
on the edge and the tang is signed 'Takahashi Hideytsugu living in Osaka
made this'. |

Cossack Trooper's Shasqua Sword and Scabbard |

Pattern 1881 Cossack Trooper's sword and scabbard. The hilt has a brass
ferrule, stamped O 42 and a pommel in the shape of a birds beak with a
hole for a wrist strap and is engraved with CCCP over a star over a
hammer and sickle. The wooden grips have diagonal grooves. The curved
blade has a wide fuller to each side to within 140 mm of the double
edged point. The ricasso is stamped on the left with a hammer and sickle
arsenal mark and 1930. The right side is marked T 150. The black leather
scabbard has a nickel plated chape and locket with a slot for a belt
strap. It has three other nickel steel bands; the centre one with a
loose ring for the second belt strap and the other two with slots at the
front that take a Moisin Nagant rifle socket bayonet. |
