The contributor says "I collect these things as a way of being in touch with my father.  His division, the 83rd Inf. Div., was credited along with another division as being closest to Berlin at the cessation of hostilities of the US divisions in the European Theatre of Operations.

Please put in a good word for the veterans of the USA.  My uncle visited Australia prior to going to Guadalcanal with the US First Marine Division in 1942." John Petrie
