This flagpole outside the Hurstville City Council Civic Center pays tribute to Hamilton VC and another local, a Nursing Sister who was killed in the Vyner Brooke affair. She was Lieutenant Lavinia Jean Russell. Note the plaque at the flagpole base. See photo below.

Note. It is possible that the use of the name "Patrick" as a second Christian name is an error. Although that is how it appears in "They Dared Mightily" it's accuracy is disputed by the family.

Jack Hamilton VC Trophy Donated in 1961 by Miranda RSL for Fours , Bowls Competition played between States from 27th Dec to 31st  Dec. each year. Each State has 5 teams (Total of 20 players). 

First year only NSW and Vic competed. It has now built up to all six states competing and taking it in turn to be the host playing for the Trophy in that State's capital city. 

In 2002 it was played in WA and won by NSW and is presently held in a bowling club in Port Macquarie until this 2003's competition in  Hobart Tasmania.
