1st NSW Rifle Volunteers I attach two old photographs dated somewhere in the 1860's or 1870's.The family name of the men could be Appeldore or Stone. They lived at Penrith at this time. Some men from the 41st
Battalion AIF in Egypt 1916. Note the baggy shorts, tropical shirts and
sun helmets (some with Rising Sun badge) and puggarees. Woollen puttees
are still worn.
