The group were the first Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) personnel to be recruited for service in Darwin and were possibly posted to 119 Australian General Hospital (AGH). Note their white uniforms, particularly their gloves, dresses, jackets, hats and shoes. Note also their silver buttons and that none of the group are wearing rank badges. Click to enlarge Uniform of Australian voluntary organisations - National Defence League of Australia (NDL). The uniform consists of khaki jacket, khaki skirt, khaki felt hat (with badge), brown gloves, khaki shirt, brown shoes, light stockings.
