  • This contributor says "My hobby deals strictly with World War II militaria & insignia.

  • However, rather than collecting the actual items, I collect and use high resolution photos of them to create Photoshop images that show myself in the uniform of a Captain (or equivalent rank) in whichever armed force and branch of service those insignia were worn by.

Notes. The details as listed and or shown are accurate to the best of my knowledge & belief. We try very hard to be accurate.

Before you complain about what you believe is an inaccuracy please keep in mind that all the images are of war time uniforms, medals, service ribbons and accoutrements. In war time the "by the book" precision of a ceremonial parade may be altered or compromised.

Variations do and did exist.

If you still believe we have made a mistake please email your input with as much detail as possible.

  • None of the images is of a real WW2 warrior, they are all representations for interest, historical and/or educational purposes only.
One of my main motivations for this project was that for those who are really interested in these uniforms, decorations and equipment, there are so few detailed pictures allowing a clear look at them.  Archival photos are usually in grainy black-and-white.  Movie and television props are mostly bad -- and even when they're correct they're small, blurry, low-resolution moving targets.   Therefore from childhood up I've always wondered, "What color is that uniform?  How many feathers are on the wings of the Wehrmacht breast eagle?  What are the ribbons on that soldier's chest?  What did that weapon look like up close?"  So, for myself and for all the other kids who never got as good a look as they would have liked, I created these images with all the detail and accuracy I could manage
