- Robert Mahoney enlisted in the AIF
in 1915. He was posted to the 42nd Battalion, 11th Brigade, 3rd
Division.
- He served throughout the war and
was de-mobbed as a Lance Sergeant.
- Mahoney was a good soldier,
typically Australian, a bit of a larrikin and, according to my
father who served with him, a "good bloke".
- Many of the antics they got up to
are recorded in the recollections called Hell
Babes
- His mates called him Mahoney R
(probably as that is the way his name would be called at Roll Call)
