These are signs...Get the Message?

Brisbane, QLD. c. 1916. Erected above the footpath along the (old) Victoria Bridge over the Brisbane River are large signs encouraging recruits to volunteer to enlist in Australia's armed services. 
  • The signs state 
    • "Fight & Win. Talk & Lose",
      • "Kick Hard Against Slavery. Enlist ",
    •   "The ANZACS want help. Did you Know?" and  
      • "Australia's Worth Living In. Fight For It." (Donor R. Pike)
Egypt. c.1942. A series of roadside signs firsts gets your attention and then warns  "Stop! Go another 500 Yds and Jerry will give you this command". (Donor R. McWilliams)

Port Moresby, New Guinea. 1943-08-11. Notice over the road to Port Moresby, reading "thru these portals pass the best damn mosquito bait in the world". The reverse side reads "I told you so".
