Spanish Volunteer
Medal (German Government Issue)
After Germany attacked Russia Spain
(supposedly neutral) offered a Division of troops to "help defeat
bolshevism".
They were called the "Blue
Division" or more formally the 250th Infantry Division. |
 |
Spanish
Volunteer Medal (Spanish Government issue to
Spanish citizens who fought for Germany against Russia)
The Spanish Government presented the
Blue Division with a commemorative medal of its own. This award was
surmounted by a Spanish Crown, with its main feature being a Spanish
Eagle with an enamel Iron Cross in the center, representative of the
collaboration between the nations. The reverse featured the Kremlin and
the inscription “Rusia 1941”, denoting that the struggle was in the
East. It was held by a white ribbon that had on either side with the
national colors of Spain and the Third Reich.
The medal was presented to all Spanish
Volunteers who fought against bolshevism in Russia. Because the swastika
was not outlawed in Spain following the war, veterans continued to wear
their awards as originally designed. |

The Nazi Woman's League. These organizations were established in every
town & city. The women took on labor
responsibilities while there loved ones were away at the front. Each had
a section leader and workers to assist from clerical to manufacturing of

This one turned up in Brazil.
The obverse side shows a nice HJ badge & National eagle with the
words "Homes for Hitler Youth". The reverse of token basically
translates to " For donation of housing for the Hitler Youth".
I have my doubts due to the "new" appearance of this piece
& I have never encountered this piece in any books. Kevin
