Imperial Service Medal was awarded "For Faithful Service".
It is the medal (lower award) of the
Imperial Service Order. For details of the Order

It was instituted in 1902 as a reward
for long and faithful service as a civil servant. Over the years the
conditions of award have changed.
It is shown here in obverse and
reverse (with the presentation box) in the George VI version and (right)
in the George V obverse.
There is also a E II R version but it
is not shown here.
