Remembrance of the Absent One

You are fighting, Lad, for honour for goodwill to all mankind

Believe me you are not forgot by those you left behind

They admire your ardent courage upon the battle-field

And pray for your protection beneath a heavenly shield

They are anxious every moment good news from you to learn

And will ever pray, by night and day, for your speedy safe return.

Note the use of the Red Ensign with a kangaroo and boomerang overlay

SALT was an officially approved magazine produced for the troops in WW2.

It became famous as a news source as well as a reading resource.

As can be seen on the cover of the one top left the Red Ensign was the flag of choice.
