Canadian Mounted Rifle Regiment badges & other mounted units

Like the Australian Light Horse and the New Zealand Mounted Rifles the Canadian Mounted Rifles were Mounted Infantry units. Their training was to ride to the battlefield, dismount and fight on foot. They were armed with infantry weapons, not the lances and sabres of cavalry. Owing to the topography and the style of fighting they were used as infantry in most cases and were not mounted in France or Flanders
