Cloth Badges of the Colonial Armies, Australian Army & some others

As can be seen from this image of a Corporal in the Victorian Colonial Forces cloth badges have been worn on uniform sleeves as long as there have been uniforms.

Most of course are badges of rank. Many were not. Most were official, some were not but were tolerated.

Some were supplied at public expense, others had to be purchased by the individual or by Regimental Funds.

I attempt to cover the full range here.
