Sport in the military

  • The military has always recognised the value of sport to
    • help maintain fitness in an enjoyable manner
    • help fill in the times of little activity and keep the troops occupied
    • help maintain a competitive mentality
    • to keep a high level of  ability to withstand pain
  • Even in the maelstrom of the Great War Sports Carnivals were organised. The images below will give an indication of the amount of effort the Army was prepared to put into it.
